Two Military Men Open Tucson Urgent Care Center
Michelle Beaver
07/01/2008 Continued from page 1 “We get a level of satisfaction as well, knowing that we fill a particular niche in medicine that is very much needed in a city like Tucson,” Orringer said. He predicts that over the next 5-10 years, Tucson will get many new urgent care centers. Orringer recognizes that the industry is growing, and said it seems that several large companies are attempting to absorb many smaller ones. He is confident, however, that independent, local businesses will do well, even though there is turbulence. “There is quite a bit of competition that does not always seem friendly, between start-ups and well-established large-company urgent care centers,” he said. “In that respect, it is not 100-percent welcoming. However, the city has given us an overwhelmingly excellent response in general.” Orringer and Hall care about their community and would like to donate to it someday, either financially, by volunteering, or both. First, however, the duo is working on breaking even financially. It’s a sizable task, but these two have seen worse. Orringer, after all, served as medical director for the Air Force in Iraq and Afghanistan, and Hall was a combat medic in Iraq during Desert Storm. Hall served with the 82nd Airborne and as a Special Forces medic in Bosnia, Africa, Korea, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Panama and Malawi. That’s a lot of rough and tumble, but these men have had some good times too. Hall enjoys gourmet food, fine wine, hiking, traveling, and walking his yellow Labrador, Jasper, while Orringer is a trained pianist and opera singer.
