The expenses related to purchasing and implementing a Web-based solution can differ from one vendor to another, and can depend on how extensive the clinic wants the service to be. “The costs for Web check-in applications vary depending on what additional applications may be offered along with it, such as online bill pay or personal health records,” Toleti explained.

For Alliance Urgent Care, the Web check-in function is part of the company’s fully integrated electronic medical record (EMR). “There is no cost breakdown for this individual feature,” said Blumhoff. “We use DocuTAP — an excellent software package that integrates Web check-ins very smoothly.”
