AURORA, Colo. — A physician of the Rocky Mountain Urgent Care and Family Medicine chain (of the Denver area), was recently honored with a national award called “Clinical Excellence in Diabetes for 2008” from the National Committee on Quality Assurance (NCQA). The doctor is Dale Kliner, MD, PhD. The NCQA partnered with the American Diabetes Association (ADA) to develop the Diabetes Physicians Recognition Program (DPRP). According to the NCQA, this voluntary program is designed to recognize physicians who use evidence-based measures and provide excellent care to diabetic patients. “Physicians who achieve DPRP recognition show their peers, patients and others in the diabetes community that they are part of an elite group that is publicly recognized for its skill in providing the highest-level diabetes care,” the NCQA stated on its Web site. Eligible physicians abstracted data from the charts of 25 diabetes patients and submitted the information to NCQA for review, the NCQA reported.
